Joe D’Arrigo, Principal of Bostonian Group, was awarded the Kristina Ripatti Courage Award at the Commodore’s Cup Luncheon on Tuesday, April 20th.  Joe was honored for his courageous marathon run with his daughters and his lifelong commitment to children at risk in the community.  It was a very special moment to see Joe be recognized, and especially since he was caught completely off guard!

As a background on the Kristina Ripatti Award, Kristina is an LAPD officer who was shot while arresting a gang member about 4 years ago.  As a result of this shooting, she is paralyzed and wheel chair bound.  Kristina does not quit and decided to dedicate herself to wheel chair fitness and helping others deal with traumatic situations in their lives.  She just completed her second Boston Marathon, and improved her time over 20 minutes.  Also, she will be participating in the “Run Across America” program with three other “able bodied” runners as they run across the country for the children’s organization.
