Summary

 

Responsible for the management and retention of a book of commercial lines business with an emphasis on closing cross-practice and pipeline opportunities.  Oversee work and workflow of assigned Account Management/support staff.  This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated, relationship focused, well versed P&C professional.  The initial emphasis of the role is to close warm leads and establish strong relationships with BG colleagues and clients. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development of new business and prospect meetings with an emphasis of time spent closing new business leads generated from existing Bostonian Group clients
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of key commercial lines accounts and delegation of appropriate work to the Account Manager
  • High level ownership of all business personally closed and any assigned clients
  • Review all assigned accounts periodically to understand client’s business and operational exposures, updating exposure information and assuring client has appropriate insurance products and risk management services
  • Prepare/review submissions for new and renewal business as necessary
  • Assist in the control and responsibility for client renewal expiration list
  • Oversee and ultimate responsibility for  work product to client and workflow of Account Managers
  • Assist SVP P&C in creating relationships with insurance markets
  • Negotiate with market underwriters with respect to new and renewal business.
  • Oversee proper handling/issuance of binders, renewals and policy checking
  • Assist clients with claim management and problem claims
  • Attend continuing education and other courses as appropriate and approved.
  • Assist SVP P&C with preparation of performance reviews of P&C team
  • Assist in ensuring maximum commissions payable on all placements

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand client/prospect's business and operational risks;
  • Broad based knowledge of all insurance products and coverage;
  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in negotiating policy coverage and pricing with key insurance markets;
  • Strong organizational skills and broad based technical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

 

Education &/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in the property/casualty industry

 

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • Brokers License
  • Other professional licenses and designations preferred
